Horology prior to the computer
Computers certainly have their place in modern horology and indeed this website would struggle to exist without them but, start to remove the computer from as many aspects of the industry as possible and a much higher appreciation of those who contributed to it in the past will be realised.
Without computer aided design or computer numerical machining, toolmakers and artisan horologists of years gone by have yet been able to leave behind exquisite examples of mechanical engineering in its purest and finest form which, as time and technology move on, become increasingly admirable.
In addition to servicing, I attempt to locate some of these examples and share my appreciation of them.
